Amazon India sellers hit $1 Bn in goods with a 56% rise in the export sales to international markets. As per Amazon global selling initiative, the exports by Indian sellers seem to reach $5Bn by 2023.
Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s Senior VP and country head, said that,
“We believe that growing ‘Make in India’ exports will be an integral lever for India to grow. The Indian Government has made significant efforts in enabling the growth of e-commerce exports with its initiatives such as reduced exports documentation, digital custom clearance process, and setting up foreign post offices across the country”.
Amazon Global Selling Program
Amazon’s Global Selling Program was initiated in May 2015 in India. The program is to provide sellers that include entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and SMEswith convenient and straightforward access to sell their products in international marketplaces.
Later it launched a B2B marketplace in 2017. Amazon Business directs on the acquirement needs of small and medium businesses like technology and service companies, manufacturers, and so on.
During the time of launch of Amazon global selling programme, the company assured that the sellers would get an oppurtunity in front of decision makers of Fortune 500 companies including medium and small corporations worldwide.
The program also assures lower fees on significant business transactions, customization tools and quality-related tools for the exporters.
In 2017, Flipkart also launched its global program right after the acquisition of eBay India. The Flipkart Global program focuses on promoting the “Made in India” products specifically to cater to non-resident Indians.
