When you watch a friend’s Story, it will now ask you if you want to watch the next story in the queue. With a tap, the next story will play. Snap used to jump users from one story to the next automatically, but abruptly changed that last October. Now, it’s back.Auto-playing one story to the next, even if it does require a one-tap approval, should theoretically increase the number of Stories people watch. Think of it like Netflix: When the next episode is queued up for you to automatically watch as soon as you finish the previous one, it keeps you watching longer.Snapchat is using more algorithms to personalize what you see. While this is invisible to most users, much of what you see on Snapchat will now be determined by an algorithm. And now a new algorithm is here to determine which friends show up on the top of your Friends page. “Your Friends will be listed in the order that you want to talk to them,” the company wrote on its blog.

Snapchat has just launched new Sky Filters that you can use to transform your pictures.

They’ll automatically appear in the filter carousel when you include parts of the sky in your shot, and the options will rotate daily.

They’re available on both the Android and iOS versions of the app. The new filters can look very dramatic, with the company saying they let you “repaint the sky with a starry night, stormy clouds, a beautiful sunset, rainbows and more”.

The company, which turn six years old today, is also making more 3D Bitmoji Lenses available to users.

“Snapchatters can watch their Bitmoji come to life with 3D Bitmoji World Lenses,” the company says. “Put a playful spin on everyday life by creating funny moments with your own personal avatar.

“Play guitar, dance the night away with Avicii, drink coffee or wait for a bus. 3D Bitmoji World Lenses are a mini-play in the Lens carousel that are as fun to play with as they are to send to friends or post to My Story.”
