Influence Marketing is not the new word in marketing world but from last few years it has become the most invested marketing strategy around the globe. We can see businesses invest more in a few selected social influencers, even more than famous Tv celebs. I believe we will see more of that across the market. The brands are now approaching few select individuals who drive results or move to organic grassroots promotion.

According to the recent article by India Today, Internet sensation “Priya Prakash Varrier” is getting 8 lakh rupees per social media post. This tells you the demand for Good social media influencers in the market and how much a social media influencer can earn. So, In order to become a social media influencer, I’ve crafted 6 steps to becoming a Successful Social Media Influencer based on my experience and observations that might help.

    Step1: Find a Niche

The first milestone on the road of becoming a social media influencer is to find a niche you are interested in and able to tell people something new, fresh and extraordinary to people about it. Whatever niche you choose make sure you are the expert in it and always updated with the latest happenings in your niche.

    Step2: Choose Social media Platform

The next step is to pick two to three social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, and Snapchat. Think about the type of content you want and or able to create and publish.

You don’t necessarily have to be on each and every social media platform find two or three such platform where most of your audience exists. For example, the primary audience on Snapchat is between 18-24 years. Instagram also targets almost same set of audience but statistics say there are more female user on Instagram then male. Same way Linkedin is best for B2B businesses while Facebook and Twitter are all rounders you can find every type of audience there.

    Step3: Create a content strategy

Here comes the most important step to become a social media influencer. Create a kickass content strategy for constant social media postings. Once you have a plan for two or three months out, prepare it and start publishing. Start with two to three posts per day and increase to eight to ten with time as you start to get used to it.

To attract more people make your content considered and consistent. You know what message you want to pass along, so stick to it all the time, but also look for something new at the same time and try to be innovative and funny.

Step4: Collaborate and Contact with Brands

There are actually two stages towards becoming a social media influencer. The first, of course, is to grow your followers organically and engage them. The second, and probably more important for some is to make money as an influencer.

So, once you have been able to grow your followers above a thousand and have decent engagement, start your outreach. The easiest way is to tag relevant brands on your photos to put yourself on their radar. Sometimes brands even feature such photos on their social media account giving you greater visibility.

Step5: Build your community and Promote Yourself

Try to invite new people by going to the forums, groups, fan pages, etc. linked to your niche. The good content always defends itself, you just need to guide the audience to it. Share your content everywhere where it might seem interesting. Make sure you are providing some value to your content.

    #6 Grow and draw attention

The last and final step to becoming social media influencer is to keep growing and keep making better content to get more followers. People will start to listen to you and follow you. The more people that are with you, the stronger your position will get. Always remember indicator showing how influential you are is not your followers but It is your community who decides when you’re an influencer.
