Amazon Fresh is Amazon’s online grocery shopping service that had a monthly subscription of $14.99. But since they also had to pay for the one-day shipping charges, there wasn’t enough profit for them. In order to place a strong foot in the grocery business, Amazon has decided to give Prime members of Amazon a free subscription of Amazon Fresh.
Prime members in more than 2000 cities in the US will now be able to get groceries delivered to them without any monthly subscription within 2 hours. These groceries will include items like vegetables, meat, snacks and other items needed in the household. The process is now even simple if the user wants to order these items, that can be done from the reach of their smartphones and the Amazon App.
But keep in mind, in order to get the 2-hour free delivery, the order needs to be of a certain quantity. If you live in New York, then the minimum cart value needs to be $50 in order to get free delivery and if you are in any other city in the US then the minimum cost will be $30.
This move is mainly focused on competing with already established players like Walmart & Target that leads the online grocery market. Currently, Platforms like Target charges around $99 for a yearly subscription, though amazon might be a bit expensive than others, it also offers other services to prime members like Prime Video, Music & Twitch Prime.
The First customers to get the invite for this new venture will be the already existing Amazon Fresh Customers and then it’ll roll out for all the Amazon Prime customers in 2000 cities of US. The VP of grocery delivery, Stephnie Landry believes that this step is going to be a game-changer for Amazon and its customers.
