The homegrown ride-hailing company, Ola has launched green e-rickshaws service in Merseyside, Liverpool.

With a fleet of blazing green Piaggio and Bajaj where the drivers are jacketed in luminous green steered on March 22 on the roads as a part of Ola’s launch in the country. The company has offered free rides in the rickshaws as the celebration of the landing around the Liverpool City Centre.

With the launch of the rides, Ola challenges another major cab-aggregator Uber on a global scale. Nearly 500 drivers have been hired to drive around the city with the granted licenses in boroughs of Merseyside.

The company offered a free ride and has been offering riders 50% off on their initial trip and can hail a ride end of the April. To empower drivers, Ola offers the highest driver rates by charging 10% commission to black cabs.

Ben Legg, Managing Director of Ola UK, said

“I have been driving passengers around the city today and have really enjoyed the chance to discuss the challenges that the community faces and how we can help with our new technology. We are celebrating bringing more travel and employment choices to Liverpudlians with our ride-hailing app with the help of the community choir.”

In August 2018, Bengaluru-based ride-hailing rolled out its services in Cardiff, Exeter, Bath, and Bristol (UK) and now it will be the fifth city in the UK to start the comfortable rides.

Currently, Ola has 3 million drivers in 600 cities operating in 65 countries. The company plans to provide round-the-clock voice support and options to share details of a journey with a passenger’s emergency contacts.

Enjoy the ride, Liverpudlians!!!
