Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) has made a host of announcements that benefits domestic startup ecosystem.
Reliance Jio starting from January 2020 will roll on free cloud services and connectivity infrastructure to India’s developing startups. It includes Azure cloud services which Jio is initiating in agreement with Microsoft.
Mukhesh Ambani during the meeting said
“All startups to register for their custom-designed package on Jio.com.” And around 80% of the cost of running a startup will be into setting up cloud infrastructure. He adds that “We are taking away this cost.”
The Reliance company is also going to offer a monthly digital services package to micro, small, and medium businesses starting at Rs 1500. Mukhesh Ambani states these businesses as the “bedrock of the economy”.
Later Ambani, Chairman Reliance Jio said
“To run their business, a bundle of connectivity, productivity, and automation tools costs a micro and small business between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 per month currently. For a similar service, customers abroad pay over $1,000 per month. Today we are taking the bold step of giving these applications along with our connectivity to small businesses for one-tenth the cost.”
He cited that the new initiatives benefit nearly 5 million startups and SMBs by impelling towards growth. Jio will cater Custom-designed plans for medium and slightly larger enterprises that acquires between Rs 3-5 lakh per month on connectivity and infrastructure.
The company will continue to invest and financially support starts that can solve India’s major requirements- healthcare, agriculture, education, skill development and other sectors.
