Amazon Designates Former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi As A New Board Member

Multinational technology company, Amazon.com Inc on Monday appointed ex-PepsiCo Inc CEO Indra Nooyi as a director.

Indra Nooyi is the second woman and second woman of color to add to its board of directors, and she is the fifth female member in an 11-person board of Amazon after Starbucks executive Rosalind Brewer was appointed to its board on Feb 4.

Amazon faced an employee backlash and criticism from black and Hispanic members of Congress, to consider “a slate of diverse candidates, including women and minorities” for future openings on its board.

Indra Nooyi, an Indian American Tamil descent served PepsiCo for 24 years as CEO (2006-2018). She stepped down from the position last year October and from the chair position this month. Nooyi who was appointed as the director in Amazon will be part of the audit committee of Amazon’s board.

Amazon’s 5 women- Rosalind Brewer, Jamie Goreclick, Judith McGrath, Patricia Stonesifer, and Indra Nooyi.

Indra Nooyi was granted 549 common stock shares that invest in three equal installments beginning May 15, 2020.
