Since the debut of Facebook, their main focus has been on the younger generation. Continuing with the same focus in its strategy, Facebook is introducing a new app called Whale. This new app is available only to the Canadian users, for now, from the company NPE Team LLC. NPE is Facebook’s Experimental division who’s being lead by the Vine’s Former General Manager Jason Toff.
This is the third app Facebook released after AUX & Bump. Whale allows the users on the platform to create their own memes with the help of simplified tools and templates available in the app.
Whale’s App Store description:
“No distractions, no hidden subscription pricing. Use your own images or choose from our stock photo library and get creative with text, tools, effects, and more right inside the app.“
The functions of the main app are pretty simple & Facebook hopes that it should increase the involvement of people in meme trend. Though the new app doesn’t seem to have any competition, it feels like its aimed at Giphy, the popular platform.
