How Brands & Celebrities are Helping the Needy In the Covid Pandemic

The spontaneous unity between each and every section of our society has improved our chances to win the fight against the COVID virus. It is not only necessary to do our part to combat the spread of this virus, but also to praise the individuals and organizations that went above and beyond the call of duty.

On this note, we list the notable celebrities and brands that made our fight against this virus all the more manageable.

Brands worldwide are often only known for their pursuit of notoriety at any cost, however in this present crisis brands proactively provided help to those who needed it.

The following are some of the major contributions made by notable brands across the country.

Amazon contributed a total of 10,000 oxygen concentrators to India for COVID relief 

Google’s Sundar Pichai announced that the organization has donated a sum of Rs 135 crore to UNICEF.

Microsoft’s Satya Nadella vowed to make various contributions to battle the virus.

P&G announced to make a contribution of Rs 50 crore for the vaccination of around 5 lakh Indians.

Additionally, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Audi, and Volkswagen are creating waves by altering their logos and taglines to spread awareness about the necessity of wearing masks and keeping social distance. 

CELEBRITY SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVITY

Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy used social media recently for a question and answer session with Dr. Nihar Parekh, a well-known child specialist, and pediatrician based in Mumbai.

The central issue discussed during this question and answer session was tackling the effects of this pandemic in children.

Some of the notable things discussed during this question and answer session were the specific issues faced by her when her children were infected by the coronavirus.

Popular Tollywood actress Nani shared a post by Dr. Sivaranjani to spread awareness in Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi languages.

Playback singer Shreepada hosted an online question and answer session with Dr. Manjula to spread awareness and provide Mythbusters about the coronavirus pandemic.

Jwala Gutta boldly used social media to spread awareness about the topic of getting vaccinated during female menstrual cycles. 

Bollywood actor, Ayushmann Khurrana and his wife Tahira spread positive messages across social media and also announced their monetary contribution to CM’s relief fund.

Priyanka Chopra recently announced a fundraiser with the organization GiveIndia to raise an amount of about 1 million dollars in COVID relief.

Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has teamed up with crowdfunding platform Ketto to raise funds for relief.

Some of the other celebrities including actors Mahesh Babu, Siddharth and Parvathy have reshared verified resources and awareness messages.  

CELEBRITY DONATIONS 

Bollywood actors are famous for their larger-than-life personas that provide people with happiness and hope did not hold back when push came to shove.

While the entire country and consequently,  the Bollywood film industry struggles economically, we saw these individuals display their hearts of gold for the cause.

As such, we take a look at the celebrities compassionate enough to donate for the cause:

First up, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood helped the stranded laborers by providing them with food and other essentials.

Celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma collaborated with Ketto to start a Fundraising campaign to battle the COVID pandemic, raising 7 crores of which they have planned to spend 2 crores for COVID relief.

Actor Vicki Kaushal donated a sum of 1 crore to the CM’s relief fund.

Bharat Ratna winner Lata Mangeshkar donated Rs 7 lakh to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and a total of 25 lakhs to the CM’s relief fund.

Actor Salman Khan has also extended help to about 25,000 Bollywood daily wage workers.

Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna donated 100 concentrated oxygen tanks to a foundation called the Daivik Foundation, they also reportedly donated a sum of 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir’s foundation, additionally they have pledged to donate a sum of 25 crores for COVID relief.

Tamil actor Ajith donated a sum of Rs 1.25 crore for COVID relief and his publicist donated Rs 50 lakh each towards Prime Minister’s fund and Tamil Nadu CM’s fund while also donating an amount of Rs 25 lakh to the welfare of Film Employees Federation of South India 

Cricketer Rohit Sharma announced that he had donated Rs 80 lakh to various organizations working to provide Covid relief.

Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar donated a sum of Rs 25 lakh each to the PM Cares Fund and the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Cricketer MS Dhoni made a contribution of Rs 1 lakh towards COVID relief.

Cricketer Suresh Raina donated Rs 31 lakhs and 21 lakhs for the PM relief fund and UP’s CM relief fund.

A RAY OF HOPE

Any form of positivity that we as individuals can provide to society as a whole goes a long way in fighting any perilous situation.
