Instagram has been seen testing a new trimming tool for stories clips, which is supposed to make editing the videos and uploading them really easy through the app itself.

Reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong recently uncovered this new feature that will allow you to use a video slider trimming tool that’s built into stories, which functions exactly the same way as any other video editing tool available on other platforms. You can find the editing icon along the top of the first frame in the creative options. Once you tap on that, you’ll be taken to a second frame that’ll give you the trimming options.
Though this option seems simple and straight forward, it can significantly benefit story creators. At the moment, a lot of creators are using third party tools for editing and trimming their videos before they upload their stories. But with the ability to edit within the app would streamline the process especially when you are on the move.
This will also allow brands to create more detailed and focused stories. At this moment there is no word from Instagram about the release of the feature to public, but from the previous record of Wong’s amazing record of uncovering hidden new features in multiple apps, you can expect that this official update should be coming soon by mid-march.
