Photo-sharing application, Instagram is taking measures to set boundaries for inauthentic activity on its platform.

The company recently observed the increase in the number of accounts using third-party apps to grow the audiences artificially. Instagram announced it will be removing Likes, Fake Followers, and Comments from the accounts that generated by Third-Party apps to increase their fame.

Instagram expressed that,

“Every day people come to Instagram to have real experiences, including genuine interactions. It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren’t disrupted by inauthentic activity.”

Using Machine learning tools, Instagram will identify fake accounts by Third-party apps. The identified accounts will be receiving an in-app message notifying them that the activity has been removed. These accounts will be asked to change their password due to the previous password shared with the third-party apps. And Users who unintentionally shared their login details with another app might be asked to change their password too. Still, the account users choose to continue using the third-party apps to boost their popularity may see their Instagram experience impacted, the company says. There might be scope in suspending the accounts that produce inauthentic activity violating Instagram’s community guidelines and Terms of use.

Expelling inauthentic activity is not just a one-and-done occurrence. Instagram takes just one measure to reduce the inauthentic activity, and updates on the additional measures will be publicized in the coming weeks.
