Snapchat announced that they are launching their new ‘Here for you’ mental health resource centre. It will be available to every Snapchat user this week to fight the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Snapchat 'Here for You'

Snapchat announced ‘Here For You’ last month, that’ll provide in-app support to Snapchat users who might be facing mental health issues. They’ll be providing links to resources related to the topic and will offer exercise tips that will help people cope with concerns regarding COVID-19.

Earlier Snapchat announced that they’ll release the tool in the coming months, but with concerns being at their highest amid the COVID-19 outbreak, they decided to release the same earlier. Snapchat’s official statement:

In light of the anxiety and stress people are experiencing with the onset of coronavirus, we’re speeding up the launch of ‘Here For You’ and making the feature available to all Snapchatters globally. As part of the rollout, we’re also building a customized search section within Here For You related specifically to coronavirus, which will showcase relevant updates from the World Health Organization, the CDC, Crisis Text Line, NHS and other partners who are creating content on anxiety specifically related to coronavirus. We expect this section to start rolling out to Snapchatters next week.

Snapchat has also partnered with the World Health Organization to help ensure that Snapchat users are getting the correct information at the right time, directly from the experts. and US Centers for Disease Control to help ensure that Snapchatters are getting the latest information from expert sources.

Snapchat also mentioned that ‘Here For You’ will also be providing assistance to users who might feel isolated due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. Snapchat mentioned:

We have always been inspired by the power that real friendships have in determining health and happiness. Here For You was informed by studies that show that connecting with friends – whether in person or online – is often the best defense against feelings of loneliness and anxiety. We also know that Snapchatters are deeply interested in understanding these issues, and how they can support friends who are struggling with them.
