Bjyu's the new sponsor for Team India jersey

Indian cricket team from September will have a new sponsor for team India’s Jersey. Indian based learning platform Byju’s will be replacing Chinese mobile-maker Oppo.

Oppo won Rs.1079 crore bid for the jersey rights in March 2017 for five-year tenure which will be now succeeded by Byju’s. Team India will sport on OPPO on their jerseys till the West Indies Tour that starts from 3 August till 2 September.

Virat Kohli’s team will be donning Byju’s jersey from 15 September for South Africa tour.

Oppo has a sponsor period till March 2022 but decides to quit from it due to the acquired rights in 2017 is to be “extremely high” and “unsustainable”.

As per the reports, BCCI will receive the same amount from Byju’s as of OPPO sponsored. The company will be at no loss at the deal that functions till 31 March 2022.

An official statement is yet to be released from Byju’s.

Oppo till date was paying Rs 4.61 crore per bilateral match and Rs 1.56 crore for ICC match. Before this company, STAR India used to pay Rs 1.92 crore per bilateral match and Rs 61 lakh for the ICC event match.

Byju’s is founded by Byju Ravindran, which is an educational platform in 2011. The company became the most valued ed-tech company in March 2019 stands at $5.4 billion. Currently, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the brand ambassador for Byju’s.
