Reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong recently shared a post on Twitter that shows Instagram testing a new ‘Challenge’ sticker that will allow users to call their connections to participate in video competitions, which should lead to better user engagement.

From the screenshot above you can see that this new sticker will be available for users in the sticker try inside the stories. Once the user adds the sticker in their story, they’ll get a prompt to tag their friends to participate. On the bottom of the second screenshot, there is an option to search for challenges that should allow users to search for different challenges ongoing on the platform.

This feature looks vaguely close to the ‘Duet mode’ from TikTok, where users are allowed to share a response with a video, that allows them to play two videos side by side that has led to a lot of amazing challenges and funny posts in the past. These have been greatly successful for TikTok for some time now.

Instagram is also looking for achieving something similar to this new feature. Though it might be a little different when finally, available for users worldwide, given the privacy aspect of the platform.

But one thing is sure, that it’s going to increase user engagement. At this moment there’s no confirmation from Instagram on the release of the feature, but it looks like the feature is close to release.
