Indian news media has hit a new low this time with the shocking coverage of Sridevi’s Death. Sridevi was a cult figure in Indian Film Industry. She began acting at the age of 4, and her films spanned multiple languages and roles. But the way her death has been reported in the media is pathetic and cannot be considered as journalism.
Sridevi died in the bathtub of her hotel room in Dubai on Saturday night at the age of 54. As soon as news breaks out Indian media ran programs based entirely on unsubstantiated speculations. Some of the media houses even speculated whether Sridevi was under danger from fat-burners or steroids or countless surgeries.
A number of news channels shows have also suggested murder as the cause of Sridevi’s death without any claims and sourcing. This behavior from Indian news Media was not only disrespectful to late Sridevi, it also goes against media ethics to fuel rumors instead of reporting facts.
Due to this unprofessional behavior of Indian Media, the #NewsKiMaut has started trending on social media especially on Twitter. Many famous journalists and Bollywood celebrities use this hashtag to bash this uncalled for behavior of various news channels.
Here are few Reaction on Twitter

Thanks to some torch bearers of yellow journalism, we made headlines the world over for stealing the show from a monumental tragedy. Hope the TRPs were worth it. #NewsKiMaut #NationalEmbarrassment
